SURROGATE QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements to Become a Surrogate

These guidelines help ensure a safe, healthy, and successful journey for you, your intended parents, and the baby.

Be between the ages of 21 and 40
Must have had at least one healthy pregnancy and delivery
Be raising, or have raised, at least one child
Have no history of significant pregnancy complications including preeclampsia, placental abruption, preterm labor, or a NICU stay
Have a healthy BMI range (18.5-32)
Lead a healthy and safe lifestyle (no felony convictions)
Not smoke or use illegal drugs, and live in a smoke-free, drug-free household.
Need to be financially stable and not currently on financial government assistance
Have a strong support system at home (family, partner, etc.)
Exceptions may be made based on review*

Your Surrogacy Journey

Every surrogacy journey is unique, but you never have to wonder what's next. From your first conversation with Kindred to your postpartum recovery, we'll be by your side every step of the way.

1. Application

Your journey starts with a conversation. After you apply, an Intake Coordinator will reach out to learn more about you, answer your questions, and explain the process so you feel clear about what comes next.

3. Find the Right Match

Finding the right intended parents is about compatibility, not speed. We consider personalities, communication styles, expectations, and shared goals before introducing you to a potential match. Before a match call is scheduled, we’ll send your medical records to the intended parents’ clinic for approval.

5. Medical & Legal Preparation

Your IVF clinic completes medical clearance while experienced attorneys prepare agreements that protect everyone involved. Once contracts are signed, we’ll help you prepare for embryo transfer.

7. Pregnancy & Ongoing Support

Throughout pregnancy, we’re right beside you. We attend appointments when requested, check in regularly, advocate for you, and help coordinate communication so you feel supported medically and emotionally.

2. Screening & Approval

We’ll guide you through medical records, background checks, an insurance review, home assessment, and every detail. Our team coordinates the process and keeps you informed along the way.

4. Meet Your Intended Parents

When everyone is ready, we’ll coordinate a match meeting so you and the intended parents can get to know one another. We’ll guide the conversation and make sure everyone feels comfortable moving forward.

6. Embryo Transfer

Your embryo transfer is carefully coordinated with your IVF clinic. If it’s successful, your pregnancy begins with continued support from both your medical team and Kindred every step of the way.

8. Delivery & Beyond

Welcoming a baby is an incredible milestone, but your support doesn’t stop there. We continue checking in after delivery, supporting your recovery, celebrating your impact, and keeping you connected to community.

Surrogate Compensation & Benefits

Becoming a surrogate is one of the most meaningful gifts you can give another family, and it's also a significant commitment of your time, energy, and heart. That's why Kindred offers generous compensation along with comprehensive financial support throughout your journey.

First-time surrogates receive a base compensation of $65,000, plus additional benefits.

Every approved surrogacy-related expense is covered, including medical care, travel, legal fees, lost wages, childcare, housekeeping, maternity clothing, and more. Your compensation is securely managed through a third-party escrow account and distributed according to the schedule outlined in your contract, so you can focus on your journey with confidence.
