What was the moment you knew surrogacy was the right path for you?
I knew surrogacy was the right path for me when I realized I could help another family experience the joy of parenthood. Being able to make such a meaningful difference made the decision feel right.
How did your family or close friends react when you shared your decision to become a surrogate?
My family and close friends were very supportive when I told them I wanted to become a surrogate. They understood how much it meant to me and encouraged me throughout the journey.
What was your favorite part of the matching process with the intended parents?
My favorite part of matching with the Intended Parents was how understanding and supportive they were. They made it clear that they trusted me and my decisions. They always wanted to make sure I felt comfortable throughout the journey.
Can you share a memorable moment from your pregnancy that made you smile or feel connected to the baby or parents?
One of the most memorable moments of my pregnancy was when the Intended Parents asked me to help choose their baby's name.
They ultimately chose the name I suggested for their baby boy, which made me feel incredibly connected to both the baby and the parents. It is a memory I will always cherish.
What was the biggest challenge you faced during the surrogacy journey, and how did Kindred support you through it?
My biggest challenge was having a difficult delivery experience. The Kindred team was incredibly supportive. My case manager visited me in the hospital, and they made sure I could continue seeing my therapist. Their support meant so much during that time.
How did you feel when you met the intended parents for the first time after delivery?
Meeting the Intended Parents after delivery was a very happy and emotional moment. They were there during labor but stepped out during delivery so I could be more comfortable. They checked on me afterward and continued to show their support, which meant a lot to me.
What surprised you most about the surrogacy experience?
What surprised me the most was how strong the bond became with the Intended Parents. I did not expect to feel so connected, and their trust, kindness, and support made the journey even more meaningful.
How has being a surrogate changed the way you view family or community?
Being a surrogate changed the way I view family by showing me that family is built through love, trust, and support. It also gave me a deeper appreciation for the surrogacy community and the incredible people who help make these journeys possible.
What role did Kindred's team play in making your journey feel personal or unique?
The Kindred team made my journey feel personal by always being there when I needed them. They were supportive every step of the way and truly cared about my well being, which made the experience even more meaningful.
If you could go back and talk to yourself before starting this journey, what would you say?
I would tell myself, "Trust the process. You are about to change a family's life in the most beautiful way, and the experience will be more rewarding than you ever imagined."
What’s a small detail from your journey that you’ll always remember?
I will always remember being asked to help choose the baby's name. The Intended Parents ended up naming their baby boy the name I suggested, and that is a memory I will treasure forever.
How did you celebrate or mark the end of your surrogacy journey?
I celebrated by treating myself and taking my kids to fun events. It was the perfect way to relax, celebrate everything we had accomplished, and make special memories together.
