A journey of faith, connection, and helping families grow

For Brittany, surrogacy has always felt like something bigger than herself. What started as a curiosity while watching surrogacy stories with her mom as a teenager eventually became a calling placed on her heart.

Now, as she begins her third surrogacy journey, Brittany reflects on the experiences, relationships, and moments that have made surrogacy one of the most meaningful chapters of her life.

Gestational Surrogate Brittany Spotlight Kindred Surrogacy

What was the moment you knew surrogacy was the right path for you?

As a teen and young adult, my mom and I would watch Lifetime movies together about surrogacy stories. That was when surrogacy was first brought to my attention. At that point, I never thought I would actually become a surrogate, but I was so intrigued and thought it was the neatest thing.

Looking back, I believe God first put surrogacy on my heart during that time.

After having enjoyable, healthy, and successful pregnancies of my own, and once my husband and I decided our family was complete, that feeling came back. After talking with others and hearing people share their experiences and interest in surrogacy, something sparked in me again.

I went to my husband to talk about it. At first, he said, "No, I don't think so." I respected that and let it go, but shortly after, I felt that calling return. I prayed, did more research, and shared information with him. Eventually, he was open to looking into it, and that was the beginning of my surrogacy journey.

How did your family or close friends react when you shared your decision to become a surrogate?

Everyone was very supportive and continues to be.

My mom has even said that if she had experienced enjoyable and successful pregnancies, she would have considered becoming a surrogate herself. I hear similar comments from many people, and every time I do, it gives me even more encouragement and reminds me how special this journey truly is.

Having my family's support has meant so much throughout each of my journeys.

What was your favorite part of the matching process with the intended parents?

Definitely the first time I met them in person.

I love people, communication, and building new friendships. The matching process is such a special opportunity to connect with someone who is trusting you with such an important role in their lives.

Creating that relationship and getting to know the intended parents is one of my favorite parts of the journey.

Can you share a memorable moment from your pregnancy that made you smile or feel connected to the baby or parents?

Each journey has been filled with special moments, but one of the things I treasure most is the connection built with the intended parents throughout the pregnancy.

Being able to share milestones, celebrate appointments, and know that every moment brings them closer to meeting their baby is incredibly rewarding.

What was the biggest challenge you faced during the surrogacy journey, and how did Kindred support you through it?

I am very proud to say I haven't faced many challenges throughout my journeys.

During my first journey, my lining wasn't getting as thick as it needed to be for a transfer. Chelsee, the Agency Director, encouraged me to take a break from medications, allow my body to rest, and give myself time to reset.

Kindred was incredibly supportive during that time. Chelsee spent time talking with me on the phone, reassuring me that everything was going to be okay and that things would work out.

Having that support and encouragement made such a difference.

How did you feel when you met the intended parents for the first time after delivery?

I was SO excited for them!

During my second journey, they arrived at the hospital about four hours after delivery, so I didn't get to see them right away. They went straight to meet their baby in the nursery.

When I eventually saw them together with their new baby, it was such a rewarding and heartwarming moment.

Seeing their excitement and knowing they finally had the baby they had dreamed about was incredibly special. It was a moment I will never forget.

What surprised you most about the surrogacy experience?

How special and fulfilling it truly is.

Before becoming a surrogate, I don't think I fully understood how meaningful this experience would be or how much joy could come from helping another family grow.

How has being a surrogate changed the way you view family or community?

Being a surrogate has taught me so much about IVF and the struggles many families face while trying to grow their families.

It has made me even more grateful for my own children and for the healthy pregnancies I was blessed with. I never take them for granted.

I also never realized how many families struggle with infertility until I entered the surrogacy world. It has completely changed the way I view parenthood and the strength it takes to become a family.

What role did Kindred's team play in making your journey feel personal or unique?

Kindred has always made me feel supported and cared for throughout my journeys.

Knowing I have a team that truly listens, answers questions, and walks alongside me makes the experience feel personal. They have always been there when I needed reassurance, guidance, or simply someone to talk to.

If you could go back and talk to yourself before starting this journey, what would you say?

It goes by so fast, Brittany, so enjoy every moment.

I hope God continues to allow me to be a surrogate for years to come, but I know eventually this season of my life will come to an end.

It will be bittersweet. I will be sad to close this chapter, but I will also be able to look back knowing I helped multiple families become parents and was part of something truly incredible.

What’s a small detail from your journey that you’ll always remember?

The little moments of connection.

The conversations, the relationships built, the excitement leading up to delivery, and seeing the intended parents become parents are moments I will always carry with me.

How did you celebrate or mark the end of your surrogacy journey?

Each journey has been special in its own way.

After my first journey, we cooked the family a meal and took our boys to meet the baby for the first time. We ate dinner together, visited, and took pictures. It was such a sweet memory for our family.

During my second journey, the intended parents lived in another city, so we traveled to spend a weekend with them about six months after delivery. My boys were able to meet the baby, we had lunch together, visited, and captured pictures.

Watching my children connect with these families has been one of the greatest gifts. They loved every minute of it, and it has been so special seeing them hold the babies and celebrate these families.

Brittany's Surrogacy Journey

Now preparing for her third surrogacy journey, Brittany continues to show what it means to lead with compassion, generosity, and love.

Her story is a beautiful reminder that surrogacy is not just about carrying a baby. It is about building relationships, creating lifelong memories, and helping intended parents experience the joy of becoming a family.
